Coffee grinder repair and maintenance on Koh Samui

Worn burrs, a grind that won’t hold, a motor that stalls: we diagnose, repair and maintain commercial coffee grinders on site for cafés, restaurants and resorts across Koh Samui.

Signs your coffee grinder needs servicing

A grinder usually gives some warning before it fails. Baristas tend to notice first: the recipe that worked yesterday stops working, and they keep chasing the dial. If you see any of the following, it is worth having the grinder checked.

  • Inconsistent grind, with shots running fast or slow on the same setting
  • Clumping, or more fines than usual in the basket
  • The grinder running hot during a busy service
  • The motor stalling, humming or not turning at all
  • Grounds not coming out, or a blocked chute
  • Unusual noise, rattling or vibration

Why grinder burrs wear and why it shows in the cup

Burrs are cutting surfaces, and like any blade they dull with use. How quickly depends on the burr type, the coffee and how much you grind, so no single replacement interval suits every café.

Dull burrs usually mean more heat, more fines and a less even grind. That typically shows up as uneven extraction, harder dialling-in and a less consistent cup. Because wear builds gradually, it is easy to miss until it is obvious. Having a technician check burr condition and alignment is the practical way to know where you stand.

Grinder maintenance contracts and prices

Care before the breakdown. A preventive maintenance (PM) annual contract puts your grinders on a schedule of 3–6 visits a year, instead of waiting for something to fail mid-service. To cover your coffee machine as well, the Combo packages put machine and grinders in one contract.

Rates vary based on equipment configuration, machine group count, boiler setup, operating conditions and service frequency (3–6 visits/year). Spare parts and consumables, such as replacement burrs, are excluded unless otherwise stated.

Want scheduled PM, a water audit and priority SLA under one monthly arrangement? The VIP service retainer runs from THB 3,500 / month; details are on our coffee machine maintenance page.

  • Coffee grinders: THB 6,000–11,500 / year
  • Combo-1 (machine + grinder): THB 12,000–19,000 / year
  • Combo-2 (machine + 2–4 grinders): THB 15,000–22,000 / year

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my coffee grinder burrs are worn?

Common signs are shots that run faster or slower on the same setting, more clumping and fines, a grinder that runs hotter than it used to, and having to adjust the grind more often to stay dialled in. Wear is hard to judge by eye, so the practical answer is to have a technician check burr condition and alignment. An on-site diagnostic visit on Koh Samui costs THB 1,000.

How often should coffee grinder burrs be replaced?

It depends on the burr type, the coffee and how much you grind. Manufacturers often give a guide based on the amount of coffee ground, but no single interval suits every café or restaurant, so it is worth having the burrs checked regularly and replacing them when a technician finds real wear. A preventive maintenance contract (3–6 visits a year) puts your grinder on a schedule, so it is looked at before something goes wrong.

My coffee grinder motor hums but won’t grind. What should I do?

Switch it off and avoid restarting it again and again, as repeated attempts on a jammed or stalled motor can make the fault worse. Then message us on LINE or WhatsApp with the grinder model and a short video of what happens. We triage remotely within 2 hours and dispatch a technician on site in under 24 hours across Koh Samui. Our service hours are Monday–Saturday, 08:30–17:30.
